What the research actually looks at
At its core, cellular longevity research asks a simple question: what actually happens inside a cell over time, and which of those changes are meaningful? Researchers look at markers like cellular senescence (when cells stop dividing but don’t die), mitochondrial function (the cell’s energy production system), and inflammatory markers that tend to shift with age.
None of this is about promising outcomes. It’s about precision — understanding mechanisms clearly enough that better questions can be asked next.
